Let’s listen carefully to the faintest sound

Kazuho Oogiya/ Vocalist and drawing artist

The world is full of various sounds. Among them, this time we will try to listen carefully to faint sounds.
First, we will relax our bodies lightly, and then relax our voices by doing “voice exercises,” in which we will make various voices, such as elephant voices and human voices. By speaking out loud, you will become aware of your breathing, which will help you relax.
Parents and children will relax their bodies and minds while enjoying playing the guitar, and expand their sensitivity to subtle sounds through various musical instruments and games of old-time princesses.

Let’s make “My Ojizo-san” -Even stone and wood have souls.

Naho Shimonaka / Modeling artist, Traditional paper cutting, Japanese event researcher

Ojizo-san stands quietly by the side of the road. They have long been loved by people as beings that protect children from all kinds of suffering. In the past, children grew up being told by their grandmothers to “put your hands together and worship” whenever they passed by a Ojizo-san.
Even today, some regions continue to hold child-centered events such as “Jizo-bon” and “Kesho Jizo. Guardian deities made of straw, wood, and stone also appear in annual events. These were also there to receive the wishes and prayers of the people. Our ancestors believed that even stones, plants, and trees have souls.

I feel that we who live in the city have lost sight of such beings and events. It would be nice to have such a presence in our daily lives that we can be thankful for the small things that happen in our daily lives, and that we can rely on when we are in trouble.

So, I would like to share this experience with you! Let’s learn about Ojizo-san and the events in our daily lives, and make “my own Ojizo-san” using stones, trees, nuts, etc.
