金属でアルファベットのブローチを作ります。
自分の頭文字、身近な人の名前、好きなことばの始まりの文字などなど、AからZまでで、自分にとって魅力のある一文字を選んでください。

まずは金属を糸鋸を使って切り出していくことからはじめます。抜き出したかたちはどんなでしょう。ヤスリで少しまわりを整えて自分の愛着のわく形にしていきます。
表面は金槌や、タガネという棒やヤスリなどを使って凹凸をつけたり、荒らしたり、傷をつけたり、磨いたりなど、他、様々な表情をつけることができます。
実物の加工見本を見ながら、また実際に金属に触りながら、自分の気にいった仕上げに近づいていきます。最後に裏にブローチピンを装着して完成です。

自分の切り抜いた形に様々な表情があらわれて、もの自体生き生きと語ってくるような気配がしたらよいなと思っています。

Make your own A, B, C out of metal

Let’s make an alphabet brooch out of metal.
Choose one letter from A to Z, such as the first letter of your name, the name of someone close to you, or your favorite word.
First, use a thread saw to cut out the metal, and then use a file to slightly trim the edges to make the desired shape.
You can use a hammer, a stick called “tagane”, and a file to make the surface uneven, rough, scratched, or polished, and so on.
While looking at the finished sample and actually touching the metal, try to get as close to the finish as you like.
Attach a brooch pin to the back of the piece and you’re done.
